DEVELOPING TRAINING / TEACHING SKILLS

We offer trainer training courses / qualifications including; Preparting to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).  Courses / quafilications are accredited either by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) or Stonebow (part of People 1st).  

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health – CIEH
The CIEH is a registered charity and the professional voice for environmental health.  It also provides over 50 certificated training programmes in trainer / teaching skills, food safety, health and safety, and environmental issues through registered training centres and trainers throughout the UK.   

CIEH Level 3 Award in Training Skills and Practice (TSP)
This qualification is aimed at those who want to develop practical training skills and is the minimum requirement for anyone wishing to register to deliver CIEH qualifications (*) in food safety, health and safety and environmental protection without public funding – for example, in the workplace.  (*other training / teaching qualifications are also recognised and conditions regarding technical knowledge and experience also apply).

The CIEH TSP covers initial assessment, planning and preparation, training delivery, assessment and evaluation. It is part of the CIEH Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.  Delegates attending the TSP course are required to deliver a short training session on the last day of the programme as part of the assessment process.

CIEH Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)
This qualification has been developed for anyone entering teaching or training roles (delivering publicly funded courses / qualifications) or already in-service, who needs to achieve the minimum threshold status as a teacher in the lifelong learning sector.

This qualification introduces the knowledge and skills required by teachers to develop and deliver programmes, provide learning support and take responsibility in managing the learning process in post-16 education.  Delegates attending the PTLLS course are required to complete 3 assignments as part of the assessment process.

The training programme for the CIEH Level 3 PTLLS includes the CIEH Level 3 Award in Training Skills and Practice (TSP).

CIEH Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) Two-day conversion programme:                                                                                                                                                                                                           For those people who already hold the TSP (or equivalent i.e. the CIEH Professional Trainer Certificate - PTC) the CIEH have introduced a two day 'conversion programme to upgrade to PTLLS.  Attendance on this programme is ideal for those who need to comply with the new standards or who wish to develop their skills further.

Candidates completing the conversion programme are required to provide evidence of previous course attendance and training / teaching delivery and are required to complete 2 written assignments.

Stonebow
Stonebow is part of People 1st (the sector skills council for hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism).  People 1st represents 14 industries, which includes; hotels, hostels, holiday parks, self catering accommodation, licensed retail, restaurants, contract food providers, events businesses, tourist services and visitor attractions.   The two Stonebow courses offered by Remscott Training and Development are the Practical Training Certificate (PTC) and the Group Training Certificate (GTC).  

Practical Training Certificate (PTC)
This programme is ideal for those people responsible for the ‘on-job’ training of team members in practical work tasks, for example how to change a beer barrel, prepare a cocktail, make a salad – whatever the task if it is practical this course is ideal. 

The programme covers how to; structure a task training session, use effective question technique and check trainee understanding.  The programme is ideal for those businesses who want to ensure consistent high standards of product preparation and service delivery.
